Crafts

One day when I wasn't feeling so hot, I decided to do something a little out of the ordinary because sometimes that makes us feel better. So, Emily and I painted pictures on the front porch! Then it started to rain and it was so fun painting out in the rain!

When it's nice out (despite a little rain) the best place to do playdough is in the backyard! No clean up and no playdough smashed into the carpet!

Happy 24th of July!

All a young boy really needs in life to be happy is a camp fire...
...and a plate of chips!
We had a BBQ in the canyon to celebrate the 24th of July. July 24th commemorates the day the Mormon pioneers reached the Salt Lake valley. We are thankful for their sacrifices and for the opportunity we have to live in this beautiful state!
Tiffany is thoroughly enjoying her marshmallow!
Cookies!

Perfectly golden marshmallow by Calvin.
Not sure who got the idea to stick marshmallows on their noses, but the twins sure had fun doing it!

Ward breakfast and Cascade Springs

Our ward had a nice 4th of July breakfast complete with scout flag ceremony, the primary singing a patriotic song, and yummy food.

We went to Swinging Bridge after the breakfast, then headed to Cascade Springs which is up the A.F. canyon about 40 minutes from our house.

Cascade Springs- such a beautiful place and so close to home!

After a nice hike, we headed back through Heber, and ate lunch at a fantastic Mexican place! We were going to stop at the lake in Provo Canyon, but the little ones were very ready for naps, so we headed home. It was a great day!

Happy Fourth of July!

Picnic dinner in the backyard, then...
...fireworks! We got a great spot on the lawn at Thanksgiving Point, right across the street from where we parked! We had a fun time (although Ty didn't like the loud noises and plugged his ears most of the time saying, "I want to go home!"). We took a wrong turn on the way home and ended up sitting in traffic for a long long time. The kids had fun singing songs though, so it wasn't too bad!

Later we did some Cul de Sac fireworks. It's pretty big here in UT! Needless to say, it's Calvin and Devon's favorite holiday!

Doing hair

Ally, Emily, Calvin, and I worked on putting yarn extensions in Tiffany's hair.
Measuring the yarn.
Oops- I put elastics in her hair and I wasn't supposed to. That's why it's sticking up. Time to re-do the 'do!

Baby birds

The kids found a bird nest in our apple tree!
Great shot of the baby tweeting for food.
The kids dug around in the garden and found some worms. Ally chopped some up and fed them to the birds, and they ate them! "I'm a Mom!" exclaimed Ally proudly after feeding the baby birds!
After a few weeks, the birds were big enough to hop out of their nest. At first the kids kept putting them back in (thinking they had fallen out) but we realized they were ready to experience the world. Tiffany loved chasing "Goldy" around the yard, and would pick it up and hold it. One morning after she woke up she ran outside and after looking for the bird (who was probably hiding from her) cried, "Where's Goldy?!" Luckily, Goldy came back to play a few more times, then away it flew. Goldy was a "tender mercy" because she entertained the little ones for hours during a time when I wasn't feeling so well! I was thankful for Goldy.
