This was one of those long windy road journey off the path experiences, that we're glad we did! This wise old man has lived in the Appalachian mountains for decades, and had lots to say about the land and the people. He reminded me of the grandpa in the book "Heidi."
This little lake by the Parthenon was crazy! We'd throw out a cherrio, and immediately, fish would splash up and snatch it! Tiff ran back to the RV and got her bamboo stick "fishing pole", stuck a piece of bread on the make-shift safety-pin hook, and caught a couple fish! Everyone got a turn catching. It was so much fun! I've never seen anything like it.
This place was so spiritual, and we all had feelings of reverence and gratitude to Joseph Smith and the others who were held in this jail., and the powerful messages that came by revelation in this tiny jail cell, that are now in D&C. Joseph called this place his "temple prison."
