Dev made the outer layer super thin with some expert carving skills. The awesomeness of it is more apparent in real life than what we could capture on film. After Halloween was over, we donated our pumpkins to a neighbor who owns sheep. Apparently, sheep love to eat pumpkin! Who knew?

Em looked very much the part of an Indian. She even found some real bird feathers she had saved, and tucked them into her headband.

Calvin and Devon took off in the pouring rain to trick-or-treat before I could get their picture together. They both dressed up as scary guys"Screamer" ghost for Dev, and a skeleton man for Calvin. After the boys returned, they stayed home to answer the door (and scare kids who weren't too young) while Colin, Em, the T's and I went trick-or-treating in our Cul de Sac. Em met up with her friend Stephanie, and she went with she and her dad while Colin and I got the little ones home, who were freezing and done with the whole thing! Later, Calvin went to a party with some of the youth in our ward and some of the parents. They played games and had a blast!

Family dinner at the Golightly cabin

We had a great time at the Golightly cabin for our monthly family dinner! They have this crazy swing that everyone had a blast on! We hardly pushed the triplets at all because it's quite a drop!

I remember what an exciting thing it was to have a beater when my Mom was making dessert. Tameeka scored this whipped cream beater!
Kelli made a delicious pumpkin dessert! One thing I've loved about our family dinners, besides being together of course, is the cooking talent of all these young people! Everything is always so tasty. Impressive!

Lots of Apples!

Our apple tree produced tons of apples this summer! In fact, all the fruit trees did so well, which was such a blessing! The apples were delicious. My visiting teacher, Kelly, offered to help me can applesauce. We did about 13 jars, froze some in baggies, and we still have tons left to eat.
The kids picked all the apples! They came up with this ingenious method for making the apple picking more efficient, quicker, easier....and of course more fun! Calvin was the designated tree-climber. He would pick the apples, then toss them onto this tarp, where they would roll down, and Dev and Em would catch them and put them in the buckets. I don't think any of the apples got bruised! They had originally wanted to pick the peaches using this method, but they are so much softer that I advised they used this method on the apples instead. It was a smashing success!

Keta's first bath!

Emily and her good friend Mackey did the honors of giving Keta her first bath! They had lots of fun! After Keta was all bathed and brushed, the girls took her outside, where she ran for the sand box and got all dirty again! We're quickly finding out that outside dogs don't stay clean for very long!

Visit from Ma and Pa!

Ma and Pa came the weekend after Em's birthday. We had a great visit, and like always, it was too short! We crammed a lot into 2 days though, including a beautiful trip to Cascade Springs (AF Canyon), just 45 minutes from our house! Em took this picture of Colin and I! She's a great photographer- look at how it's centered and everything!

Ty loves to read books with Pa! Colin made his specialty Sunday morning whole wheat pancakes, then after a few stories, Ma and Pa were off back to NV.

Dog House

Instead of purchasing a pricey dog house or igloo, we thought it would be a good idea to have a home made one! The kids went dumpster diving many times and found all the materials they needed except one wall. Calvin found a piece the perfect size on sell at Home Depot, so we only spent $13 on the dog house! Plus, they had the satisfaction of making it all by themselves. Colin gave them one pointer I think, but that was it. I'm amazed at what they can accomplish all on their own!

They even found roof tarp and shingles in a dumpster!
The kids still haven't painted it yet, but here's the completed version! They tried putting a dog door on which was made out of wood, but it was too heavy and would slam shut on her. So, we found a thick piece of carpet rug for a few bucks at Home Depot. The professional dog doors that would fit this house are over $100! No thanks! Calvin spent about 30 min. in the extreme cold one night putting the carpet door on, but Keta had ripped it off in the morning! So, this is our door-less dog house. She has a nice water proof bed in there, and there has been no leaking thru the roof with all the rain and snow.
