| We went to this great nature reserve in Belize. Here is our tour guide, George, aka "Gorilla George" because he can imitate the sound of a howler monkey perfectly! He took us on a cave tour (his monkey howl in the cave was pretty awesome and a little creepy), where we rode in river rafts, and went thru dark caves with historical carvings (we used flashlights). Keta rode wtih Colin in his raft, and got spooked a few times, but was a good dog and stayed with her "Daddy" the whole time. After the tour, the parking lot vacated. We got into the car and tried to start it, but to no avail! What?! Again and again, Colin put the key in the ignition, but nothing. It was starting to get dark. We found a park ranger who lived on the premises. He said he knew a mechanic and called him. He said he'd come in 20 min. Now, this place was out in the middle of nowhere! We waited and waited. Finally, Colin decided to unload the whole trailer and re-pack it. Dev played football with Ty. The twins explored the grounds, playing with sticks, rocks, and made "houses." An hour or more passed and we were thinking we'd have to set up our tent and camp there for the night. Then a thought dawned on Colin. He remembered he had dropped his keys in the water at the end of the tour. He realized this when the "theft" light came on each time he tried to start the car. The key was being recognized as faulty! So, he pulled out his other set of keys, and bam! Up started our car no problem. Needless to say, we all had a good laugh about that one:) Off we drove arriving to our next destination quite late, but arriving safe and sound nonetheless. |
