More Birthday

Calvin and Devon hid Emily's presents, and they laid out several pens shaped like arrows to point the way. Pretty creative!
Devon gave Emily his old air soft gun! (don't worry- they all wear safety goggles)
Calvin gave Em a pocket knife. She's been asking for (and expecting) a pocket knife for her 8th birthday ever since she was about 4 years old!
At first we were headed for a birthday-disaster. The "triplets" thought they were getting presents too, so they started whining for them! It went something like this: "My presents! Where my presents?!" So, we got out 3 gift bags out, and helped them fill their bags with toys from around the house, and then they gave them to Em. They stopped whining, and realized it's fun to give too, not just receive!

Em and her loot. Nicky gave her the chocolate bar. Em had been told by someone that she would get a chocolate bar, but that someone forgot and it didn't happen. She was kind of disappointed about it. So, she was thrilled to get one from Nicky! We gave her some winter clothes and some 8th birthday things like new scriptures, a CTR ring (both of which she chose herself), and her baptismal dress and shoes. It was fun shopping together, just Em and I!
Candles are so exciting!
Lighting the candles is serious business around our house.

I should just call myself "The backwards Blogger!" So, the making of the pie is at the end of this post, but that's really okay. Em and I made this crust, and pumpkin filling, and it turned out slightly burned, but very yummy! (note- when using a convection oven, it doesn't take as long to bake a pie as a non-convection oven does)
